Boy Scout Ryean Hazard, of Lynnwood, gathered other volunteers for a work party May 12 to clean up and restore Veterans Park, a project he organized as part of his work to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. The group weeded, cleaned up trash, laid down fresh bark, repaired and re-stained park benches, scrubbed down various signs, power-washed bricks so they could be readable again, and more.

Hazard was inspired by his family connections to the U.S. military, including his father, grandfathers and great uncle.

The work was done when Hazard and other members of Troop 49 returned to the park with others to participate in the city’s Memorial Day ceremony.
