Vehicle fire snarls Highway 526 near I-5 in Everett for hours

EVERETT — A crane truck caught fire and shut down westbound traffic on Highway 526 Monday morning.
The fire scorched nearby grass and shrubs and snarled the freeway just west of I-5 near the Evergreen Way exit around 9 a.m.

The driver was not injured.
By midday, the truck had been removed but some westbound lanes were blocked for several hours more as crews cleaned up the roadway.
UPDATE: Driver not injured. @EverettFire still working to make sure the fire is out. Investigation to begin. Plan is to get 1 lane open ASAP when roadway safe. pic.twitter.com/Tcnsc2bCUM
