Learn about Arabian horses
A regional Arabian horse championship series in Monroe offers free tours this week at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds off U.S. 2 in Monroe. The “Total Arabian Interaction and Learning” tour introduces adults and children to the Arabian breed and offers a chance to see the horse show and help groom a horse.
Tours begin at noon Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the equestrian park entrance, next to the information booth. Reservations requested.

Mill Creek Festival
The annual Mill Creek Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday on Mill Creek Boulevard, between 164th Street SE and 159th Place SE. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The family friendly event includes live entertainment, local art booths, a children’s plaza plus rides and a beer and wine garden.

Celebrate Al Swift’s life
A celebration of life will be held for former Congressman Al Swift on Saturday. Swift, who represented the 2nd District for eight terms, died April 20. The public event begins at 1 p.m. in the Weyerhaeuser Room at Everett Station. RSVPs are welcomed but not required: alswift memorial@gmail.com.

How to help feral cats
The Community Cat Coalition offers two free classes back-to-back July 28 at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W. An orientation to the group is given at noon. Find out how they help neighborhood cats and how you can volunteer. Then at 1 p.m. take a “Basic TNR: Trap, Neuter, Return” class. Registration required.

Stitch comfort quilts
The Mukilteo Lighthouse Quilters holds its annual Comfort Quilt Sew-In, 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. July 17 at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo. There will be premade packets to make “I Spy” quilts for kids served by Helping Hands, or use your own design.

Marysville police seek volunteers
The Marysville Volunteer Police program is recruiting new members. MVPs offer extra eyes and ears for the Marysville Police Department, conducting patrols around schools, parks and trails; performing vacation residence checks; and staffing events.
Applicants go through an interview and must pass a background check.

Dental care for adults
Free dental treatments for adults are the highlight of a celebration planned for 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. July 21 at Walter E. Hall Park. There will be free hot dogs, kids flag football, raffles and more. Hosted by Leadership Launch.
