Shakespeare in the Park: Free performance of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by Seattle Shakespeare Co. 7 p.m. July 26 at the Lynndale Park Amphitheater, 18827 72nd Ave. W., Lynnwood; www.lynnwoodwa.gov. Star Trek meets Shakespeare in the new play “M’aQ’betH,” opening July 27. Alex DeRoest and Nick Poling, the masterminds behind “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” and “The Adventures of Lewis and Clark,” have adapted Shakespeare’s play into a Klingon one. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 adults, $15 seniors, students and military. Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, dethrone the reigning teen queen, win the affections of the local heartthrob, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do. The Tony-winning musical teaches us to look past skin color and size in the fight for equal rights. Tickets are $70 general, $65 seniors and $55 youth.

Summer Shorts: Laugh out loud with Summer Shorts, featuring seven 10-minute comedic plays by local playwrights. Historic Everett Theatre: 2911 Colby Ave., Everett; 425-258-6766; www.historiceveretttheatre.org. “Farce of Habit,” opening Aug. 9, is a funny Southern-fried romp at Reel ‘Em Inn, the finest little fishing lodge in the Ozarks. The proprietor is looking forward to a peaceful weekend at the lake — but take-no-prisoners lunacy by his family and guests makes the chance of that happening slim to none. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12.

The 2018-19 season includes “The Underpants,” “Twist of the Magi,” “Ripcord,” “Women in Jeopardy” — plus a comedy that has yet to be named. YOUTH THEATER

Ludus Performing Arts: Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett; 425-239-6627; www.ludusperformingarts.org. The youth theater company performs Monty Python’s “Spamalot” at 7 p.m. July 26-28 and 2 p.m. July 28. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the comedy musical retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French taunters. Tickets are $12 to $20.

The cabaret: A student-run cabaret “Dear World” features some of the local 5th Avenue Award nominees. The one-time show is 7 p.m. July 29 at Cope Gillette Theatre, 2730 Wetmore Ave., Everett. Eight talented high schoolers and recent grads will perform original songs, radio hits and musical theater favorites. Tickets, $12 each, are available through Brown Paper Tickets.

“The Little Mermaid”: The Edmonds Driftwood Players Teen Troupe presents the musical based on Disney’s classic animated movie at the Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds. Performances are 8 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11, and 2 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12. Songs include “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.” Tickets are $15. The musical, “Le Miserables,” running Aug. 11-19, is adapted from Victor Hugo’s timeless novel by the same name. COMEDY

Tony V’s Garage: Monday Night Comedy is a weekly comedy showcase and open mic at the garage, 1716 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Features regional comedians working out their longer sets and local amateurs trying new material. Next showcase is July 30. No cover. Sign up at 7:30 p.m.; show is at 8 p.m.

A Night of Improv: Exit 192 Improv will perform improvisational comedy 8 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. This adults-only show is completely unscripted and inspired by suggestions from the audience.
