The Rotary Club of Edmonds offers its annual Photomarathon contest with a $500 top prize. Register as an individual or as a team for $25 and then gather the morning of Sept. 8 at RBC Wealth Management, 303 Fifth Ave. S., Edmonds. Contest topics will be announced at 10 a.m. Photographers then have until 4 p.m. to make six photos on six topics, all in Edmonds. Photos must be in digital format, unedited, and emailed in. Prizes will be awarded Sept. 20.

How to preserve family photos

Everett Public Library’s next Hands on History workshop discusses “Family Photos, Then and Now,” 6 p.m. Sept. 4 at the main branch at 2702 Hoyt Ave. The free workshop will review ways to best care for old prints and negatives, as well as offer tips on managing digital images. Northwest Room staff lead this session and there will be time for questions.

Be a Tech Pro (the library can help)

Sno-Isle Libraries offers a Tech Pros series in September, with workshops on making and managing passwords, staying clear of tech support scams, preventing and responding to identity theft, and protecting the digital legacies of loved ones after their death.

Other classes will offer tips on using Adobe Photoshop, digital assistants like Siri and Alexa, and how to make taking technology on vacation more fun and less of a headache.

Some classes require registration.

Get ready for kindergarten

Edmonds School District families can participate in a weekly preschool program to help prepare children for kindergarten. The free two-hour sessions are for children and their parents or caregivers. Eight elementary schools host the program. Sign-up is required.

Driving safety class in Arlington

An AARP Smart Driver defensive driving class is offered 9 a.m.-1 p.m. the second Tuesday to Wednesday every other month at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. Age 55 and older. The next session is Sept. 11-12. Cost is $15 AARP members, $20 non-members. Sign-up required.

Help for parents

A Changes Parent Support Network support group for parents of children with behavioral problems meets 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at Zion Lutheran Church, 4634 Alger Ave., Everett. Peer-to-peer support for parents struggling with children exhibiting risky behaviors such as drug or alcohol use. Confidential and free. A potluck is the first Thursday of each month at 5:45 p.m.
