Throwback Thursdays: Free movies on the third Thursday of the month at the Edmonds Theater, 415 Main St., Edmonds. Doors at 7:30 p.m., show at 8 p.m. Donations collected at every event benefit nonprofits in Snohomish County. Maltby Meaningful Movies: “Before the Flood” is showing at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Sharingwood Condominiums, 22105 East Lost Lake Road, Snohomish. In the documentary, actor Leonardo DiCaprio talks with scientists, activists and world leaders about the dangers of climate change and possible solutions. Sunday Films at the Library: Watch “After the Storm” from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. A struggling novelist, now working as a private detective under the pretense of doing research, attempts to reconcile with his aging mother, ex-wife and 11-year-old son. As a typhoon passes, they end up spending the night together in his mother’s Tokyo apartment, but things don’t go particularly well for this fractured family. In Japanese with English subtitles. Everett Meaningful Movies: “We the People 2.0” is showing at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 215 Mukilteo Blvd. This film explores the work of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund, which helps people protect themselves against pollution, environmental damage and other hazards by writing community home rule charters spelling out citizens’ rights, community rights and the rights of nature.
