This month’s charitable sewing project by the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors will be blankets for children served at Dawson Place, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W, Lynnwood. Bring your machine and other sewing supplies, and your own lunch. Kits provided.

Meet Santa, Belle, Spider-Man and Minions

The Arlington Education Foundation is hosting its third annual Santa Breakfast on Dec. 1. This year, special guests Belle, Spider-Man and a couple of Minions will join Santa for the family friendly event.

A pancake breakfast is included, along with a hot chocolate bar, and holiday craft stations.

Tickets are $15, free for children under 2. Reservations required. Two seatings are available: 8:30-10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.-noon at President’s Elementary School at 505 E Third St., Arlington. Proceeds benefit the Arlington Education Foundation.

AAUW scholarship fundraiser

The American Association of University Women Edmonds SnoKing Branch holds its annual Holiday Scholarship Benefit Brunch and Auction, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 in Gateway Hall 352 at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. Tickets are $30. Reservations close Nov. 21. The featured speaker is AAUW activist and college liaison DeLancey Lane, a former intern for Sen. Patty Murray and legislative assistant to state Sen. Patty Kuderer.

Toys for Tots expands in Snohomish County

A local U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program is expanding to serve all Snohomish County, adding Arlington, Darrington, Oso, Silvana, Smokey Point and Stanwood. There had been two Toys for Tots efforts in the county in past years. The Snohomish County group also serves Shoreline.

Prospective clients can apply at www.toysfortots.org to receive holiday gifts for their children through the program.

OPPORTUNITY

Honor a veteran

In 2005, the American Legion Post 76 and Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1561 dedicated a monument at Arlington’s Legion Park to memorialize local military veterans. Dozens of pavers remain available for purchase to celebrate the service of those in the U.S. Armed Forces. Application forms are available on the city’s website.
