State of Mukilteo speech
Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson will deliver her 2019 State of the City address at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. This is her fifth State of the City speech. She has been mayor since 2014.
Gregerson will discuss her priorities for 2019. Refreshments will be served.

Exercises planned
Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is preparing for and participating in the annual exercise called Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain.
The exercises are slated to occur through February.
Area residents may see or hear security and other first responder activities associated with the exercise, including potentially seeing training smoke, increased vessel activity or hearing small explosive sounds.
During these exercises, residents should expect to hear announcements over NAS Whidbey’s “Giant Voice” loudspeaker system as well as expect delays at some gates.
Advanced coordination took place with local law enforcement and first responders. This regularly scheduled exercise is not in response to any specific threat. There is no safety concern for the public.

Pastels expo
The Arlington Arts Council invites people to attend a demonstration in pastel painting featuring local artist Vicki Johnson. The event will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Hadley Hall in the Arlington Boys & Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE.

Mukilteo council
The Mukilteo City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday in the City Council chambers at 11930 Cyrus Way. Agenda items include council travel and liasion assignments, as well as the Harbour Pointe Boulevard SW widening.
Think spring
Mark Henry, garden consultant and designer, will speak at the Snohomish Garden Club meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth Street.

HEADS UP
Camp Fire Candy is here
Mints, Caramel Clusters, Almond Roca, and P’Nuttles are back this month as Camp Fire kids and parents set out around the county for their annual candy sale.
Boxes of candy are $5. Camp Fire kids earn credit based on how much candy they sell and can pay for a week at Camp Killoqua by selling a certain amount.
The sale began Jan. 25 and continues through Feb. 18.
