Rummage sale

The Darrington Youth Coalition is raising money for a service trip to Mexico. The coalition is a group of middle and high school students who support their peers in being drug and alcohol free.

The rummage sale is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1015 Seeman St. Proceeds go toward youth programs that focus on drug and alcohol prevention through healthy alternatives.

Check smoke alarms

Sunday begins daylight saving time. Local fire departments remind folks it’s a good day to check your smoke alarms. Three out of five home fire deaths occur in places with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms, usually because batteries were missing, disconnected or dead.

Ice cream social

Evergreen Middle School is seeking volunteers for its Watch D.O.G.S. program. Fathers and father figures are invited to learn more during a free ice cream social from 7 to 8 p.m. March 18 in the school’s cafeteria at 7621 Beverly Lane, Everett.

Those who are interested do not need to know a child who goes to the school. The goal is to have positive male role models on campus.
