Sightseers under Clinton dock halt Mukilteo ferry route

CLINTON — A pair of sightseers in a rowboat and a kayak went under the Clinton ferry terminal dock Saturday afternoon , which temporarily halted the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry route.

The dock is a restricted area. The Coast Guard launched a small boat but couldn’t access the dock in high tide. The Washington State Patrol arrived and asked the sightseers to leave the restricted area, which they did.

“There were no ill intentions,” trooper Heather Axtman said.

After the pair left, the state patrol checked underneath the dock.

The ferry route resumed shortly after. The waiting lines in Mukilteo were more backed up than normal as a result.
