Jack’s urban bike ride
Join B.I.K.E.S. Club of Snohomish County on May 24 for an approximate 20-mile ride at a moderate pace. Arrive at 9:45 a.m. for the 10 a.m. ride. Riders will meet at the south end of the Kohl’s parking lot in Lynnwood at 18405 Alderwood Mall Parkway. The route will take participants on a route through Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline, Edmonds and the Ballinger Trail. The club hosts other rides, which are listed at www.bikesclub.org/.

Crab dash
Run or walk in the seventh annual Camano Crab Dash, from 7:30 a.m. to noon on June 22, at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.

Church to host Ramadan meal
Edmonds Lutheran Church welcomes the community Saturday evening to its fourth annual Ramadan Iftar celebration. The event is a partnership with the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Washington.
The evening will begin around 7:30 p.m. with two speakers discussing Ramadan, the basics of Islam, the spiritual practice and purpose of fasting during the Islamic holy month. Then the group will break the fast together at 8:45 p.m. The event is free and open to all.

North county crime meeting
Marysville and Arlington-area residents and businesses are invited to a panel discussion on May 28 about the status of the embedded social worker program in north Snohomish County.
The program is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. at Smokey Point Community Church, 17721 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.
The partnership between the county and the cities of Arlington and Marysville debuted a year ago to help address impacts of crime-related transient behavior. Elected officials, law enforcement, social programs and local businesses will report on the program’s status, success stories and next steps.

Is your workplace breastfeeding friendly?
The Breastfeeding Coalition of Snohomish County is conducting a survey to find employers that are supportive of breastfeeding in the workplace. Based on this annual survey, the coalition publicly awards large and small companies.
Nominations for this year’s awards will be accepted through July 1. The winners will be announced in August.
