North county crime meeting
Marysville and Arlington-area residents and businesses are invited to a panel discussion on May 28 about the status of the embedded social worker program in north Snohomish County.
The program is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. at Smokey Point Community Church, 17721 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.
This partnership between the county and the cities of Arlington and Marysville debuted a year ago to help address impacts of crime-related transient behavior. Elected officials, law enforcement, social programs and local businesses will report on the program’s status, success stories and next steps.
Panel participants include city and county elected officials, the sheriff and police chiefs.

Pub talk
“Depressed about Climate Change? Moving from Angst to Action in an Age of Ecological Disruption” is the topic of a talk 7–8:30 p.m. May 28 in the monthly series UW Bothell Pub Night Talk at McMenamins.
Jennifer Atkinson, University of Washington Bothell lecturer, talks about the grief, anxiety and hopelessness that are increasingly common responses to environmental issues and explores how to build resilience to stay engaged in solutions.
Doors open at 6 p.m. at Haynes’ Hall, McMenamins Anderson School, 18607 Bothell Way NE, Bothell.
Free. All ages welcome. Seating is first come. Talk followed by Q&A.

Live jazz
The A’Town Big Band plays at the Camano Center from 7 to 9 p.m. on June 12, at 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. The group is made up of 17 musicians from the Anacortes area who play contemporary big band jazz.
Tickets are $20 and available at www.eventbrite.com, or at the center. Those in school can get in for no cost with student ID.

On Memorial Day, Community Transit will be operating limited bus service. Local bus service, including the Swift lines, DART paratransit and Sound Transit Route 512 will all be on a Sunday schedule. Commuter service to downtown Seattle and University District will not be running.
