Naval station training
Security exercises are scheduled at Naval Station Everett from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Those in the area may hear emergency loudspeaker announcements, more sirens than usual and gunshots from blank rounds. These kinds of drills are to improve coordination between the Navy and other agencies.

Breakfast, planes and business
Brett Smith, of Propeller Airports, the company behind the Paine Field passenger terminal, will be presenting on how public and private businesses can work together. The event, which includes breakfast, will take place from 7:15 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Staybridge Suites, 9600 Harbour Place, Mukilteo. Entry is $20 for Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce members, $25 for non-members.

Garden tour
The Snohomish Garden Club tour is noon to 5 p.m. June 30. The tour has five gardens in the Dutch Hill area outside of Snohomish and a sixth in Monroe. Tickets are $15, $12 online. Children 12 and under are free.

Save the bees!
Environmental educator Demarus Tevuk Sandlin will teach people how they can help their buzzy pollinating pals starting 7 p.m. Thursday at McCollum Park’s Northwest Stream Center. She’ll talk about local native bees and what you can do in your own backyard (or farm, or orchard) to make life easier for them. The event is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Edmonds jazz concerts
Musicians from the Edmonds School District will perform Sea Jazz summer concerts every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and every Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. starting this week in the plaza behind Anthony’s HomePort in Edmonds. Concerts run through Sept. 1. The address is 456 Admiral Way.

Snohomish County DUI memorial wall
The county has begun accepting applications for wall tiles from families for the DUI Victims Memorial Wall at McCollum Park. Applications are due by July 19 and can be found at www.snohomishcountywa.gov/466/DUI-Traffic-Safety. An unveiling ceremony will be held over the summer.

Session set for online public school
Washington Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school that opened in 2016, is hosting a free information session in Lynnwood this week for families interested in learning about its online program and individualized approach to education. The session is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Homewood Suites by Hilton, 18123 Alderwood Mall Parkway, Lynnwood.
