Open mic night

EPIC Group Writers will present Open Mic Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cafe Louvre, 210 Fifth Ave. S. in Edmonds. Read your poetry or prose — or just listen. Each participant can read for up to five minutes. This event is free, with sign-ups at the door. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Membership in EPIC is not required.

Happiness rocks

Rock Painting with Kindness Rocks is at 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W. All ages are invited to paint a rock and spread kindness. The Kindness Rocks MLT group has sprinkled the community with hidden rocks to surprise someone with a message of caring.

Play time

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for new play equipment at Lewis Street Park is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the park at 561 S. Lewis St. in Monroe.

Reunite and celebrate

Join Edmonds High School’s class of 1979 in reconnecting. The class will have its 40th reunion July 12 and 13. Events include a golf classic at Lynnwood Golf Course, meal at 190 Sunset Restaurant in Edmonds and reunion in Woodway.

Potential light rail station locations meeting scheduled

Snohomish County will host two open houses on possible station locations near the Ash Way and Mariner park and rides. One will held 5 to 7 p.m. July 18 at Mariner High School, 200 120th St. SW, Everett. The second is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. July 25 at Oak Heights Elementary, 15500 18th Ave. W, Lynnwood. The same material will be presented at both. An online open house also is available at https://snocolrc.participate.online/. Public input will be accepted until July 31.

Book sale

The Friends of the Edmonds Library has an ongoing sale starting July 14 with learning materials, coloring books, craft books, activity books and other books for kids of different ages to read at Edmonds Library, 650 Main St. Many books are in excellent condition and are new. Proceeds support library programs and services.

Blood drive fundraiser

The Cascade High School girls wrestling team is hosting a blood drive fundraiser July 19 at the high school, 801 E. Casino Road. Ages 16 and up can donate. Parent permission is required for minors.

Wading pool

The Forest Park Swim Center wading pool for kids 7 and younger, is noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 31. In the park’s main space, a water playground with 16 interactive fountains and designated tot spray pad is available 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Sept. 22.
