Flower power
The Edmonds in Bloom garden tour is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The self-guided tour has six private gardens. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 on the day of the tour.

Fun at the fair
The Whidbey Island Fair with rides, entertainment, animal shows, vendors and more runs through Sunday. Children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds is at 819 Camano Ave. in Langley.

Animal stories
Storytime at the animal farm at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., in Everett is from 2:30 to 3 p.m. July 24.
Listen to stories and wander around the farm at Forest Park. For children ages 2-5 years old. Free.

Fire truck ceremony
Join the Everett Fire Department at its rolling-in ceremony for its new ladder truck, at 6:30 p.m. July 29 at Fire Station 1, 3619 Rucker Ave. Those who attend can meet fire staff and check out the new truck. The rolling-in ceremony is a tradition that dates back to the 1830s. Back then fire equipment was pulled by horses, and couldn’t be backed into the station. Firefighters would push the equipment into the bays.

City talks supportive housing
The city of Everett planning commission is holding a public workshop on zoning code regulations for supportive housing projects in single-family zones at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6. In June, an emergency moratorium was placed on supportive housing in single-family zones. The meeting will be held at City Council chambers at 2930 Wetmore Ave. There will be a time for public comment. No recommendations to City Council will be made that night.

HEADS UP
Voter pamphlet statements sought
Snohomish County Fire Protection District 23 in the Robe Valley recently adopted a resolution to submit to voters on the Nov. 5 ballot. The proposition would authorize a permanent emergency medical services levy beginning at a rate of 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation for collection and starting in 2020.
The fire department is accepting names of people interested in sitting on voter pamphlet statement pro and con committees. Statements must be submitted to the Snohomish County Elections Division by Aug. 6.
