Car show sign-ups

Register now to join the 28th Annual Collectors Car Show and Outdoor Market, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road.

Each car costs $15 to register now, and $20 starting Monday. Vendors can save a table space for either $35 or $45.

Silvana reunion set

An all-classmates reunion and potluck for students who once attended Silvana School is set for noon Aug. 8 at Peace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Silvana. The grade school was shuttered more than a half century ago, but there have been occasional reunions among the former students.

HEADS UP

U.S. 2 resurfacing work near Index

Crews will be working on about four miles of the road between Mount Index Road near Index and Eagle Falls west of Halford. The resurfacing is weather dependent requiring daytime closures and warm and dry temperatures. Drivers should expect 20- to 45-minute delays. Traffic will alternate through a single lane. Closures are set to occur between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. today, July 29, and Aug. 1, 2 and 7.

Planning commission vacancy

The City of Snohomish Planning Commission is seeking applicants to fill a spot on the volunteer board.

The appointed volunteer would serve out the term of Planning Commissioner Laura Scott, who recently resigned. They will need to be confirmed before filling the remainder of her six-year term, which ends in August 2025.

The commission considers land-use, regional and comprehensive plan issues, and makes recommendations to the City Council. The Planning Commission may recommend moratoria and/or interim land-use controls and hold public hearings as deemed necessary. Applicants must live within Snohomish’s urban growth area.

Applications are due to the city clerk by 4 p.m. Aug. 9.

Nominate a local hero

The local chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking nominations for heroes in Snohomish County. Nominations can be for an individual of any age, a group of people or even a service animal who do extraordinary things.

Recipients will be honored at the next annual Snohomish County Heroes Breakfast on Dec. 12 at Tulalip Resort Casino.

Nominations are due by Sept. 6 and can be made at www.redcross.org/local/washington/about-us/news-and-events/events/snohomish-heroes.html.
