Sandcastle contest

Create a sandcastle and compete from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 on Jetty Island. Builders of all skills are encouraged to bring their own buckets and shaping tools. Some shovels will be available to borrow.

Dragonfly whisperer

Scientist and author Jim Walker will talk about “The Incredible Lives of Dragonflies and Damselflies” at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Northwest Stream Center, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Learn interesting facts about dragonflies and how to coax them onto your finger.

Reservations are required. Cost is $5 for Adopt A Stream Foundation members, $7 for non-members.

Edmonds jazz concerts

Camano Island car show, outdoor market

Registration is open for the 28th annual Collectors Car Show and Outdoor Market on Camano Island. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road. Raffle prizes, entertainment, food and beer garden. Admission is free.

Reunite and celebrate

Join Lynnwood High School’s Class of 1979 in reconnecting Aug. 10 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lynnwood, 20610 44th Ave W.
