Dazzling dahlias
The Everett Dahlia Show, with displays of more than 2,500 dahlias, is 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Floral Hall at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd. Hosted by Snohomish County Dahlia Society. Prizes are awarded to winning entries. Vote for your favorites. Free.

Taste of Edmonds
Enjoy three days of food, music, vendors, rides and fun at Taste of Edmonds, from Friday through Sunday at Civic Playfield, 310 Sixth Ave. N. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $5, with ages 12 and under free. Entrance to the beer garden is free.

Weigh in on proposed court
Snohomish County leaders are proposing a new community court to tackle low-level offenses, such as criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct, and help the people who commit them.
Defendants accused of such “quality of life” crimes often struggling with drug addiction, mental health issues or homelessness, said Everett District Court Judge Anthony Howard, a proponent of the idea. The new court, which will likely be located in the Carnegie Resource Center in Everett, would require defendants to address these issues by completing various tasks, including obtaining a job, getting a driver’s license and entering treatment programs. Service providers will be in the same room to connect the defendants with the necessary programs.
If defendants fulfill the requirements, they could have their charges dismissed within half a year.
The details of Snohomish County’s community court are still being worked out. People can provide their input by filling out a 25-question survey at snohomishcountywa.gov/5449/Community-Court
The court could open its doors as soon as February.
Share thoughts on wastewater
A public hearing is set for 7:15 p.m. Aug. 21 at Granite Falls City Hall to consider a wastewater facilities plan. The document is required for future improvements, upgrades and the possible expansion of the existing wastewater treatment plant and sewer system. It addresses potential improvements over the next 20 years, including urban growth areas outside current city limits.
Written comments will be received up to 4 p.m. Aug. 21. The comments should be sent to the city clerk at Granite Falls City Hall, 215 S Granite Ave., Granite Falls, WA 98252. That’s the same location for the public hearing.
