Jetty Island final days
There are only a few days left to fit in a visit to Jetty Island this year. The season ends Monday.
Watch windsurfers, take a dip in the water or walk along trails on the 2-mile long island.
Ferries run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays, at 10th Street and W. Marine View Drive, Everett. Reservations are recommended.
Parking is $3, with a ferry suggested donation of $2 for adults, $1 for kids.

State fair ends soon
Looking for something to do this holiday weekend? The annual Evergreen State Fair runs through Monday. Gates are open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Tickets are $14 for adults and $10 for military, children ages 6 to 12 and adults 62 to 89. Kids younger than 5 and adults 90-plus get in free.
Friday is free admission for veterans, active military and their immediate dependents with an ID. Monday is $2 off all admission prices.
Attractions include carnival rides, food, petting zoos, contests, art displays, monster trucks and live music. The fairgrounds are at 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.

Donate to Sky Valley seniors
Volunteers of America Western Washington is hosting a fundraiser for a program that brings easy-to-prepare foods to older people and those with disabilities, at no cost. It’s called Sky Valley Elderly Nutrition Delivered.
One $5 donation provides five meals. Volunteers and program staff are collecting money through Oct. 25. Their goal is to raise enough for 500 meals.

Celebrate Hispanic heritage
Learn about and replicate amate paper painting, a type of folk art from Mexico, in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 5, at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.
Registration is required for this free event. All supplies are provided. Children 12 and older may accompany an adult.

MEETINGS
Fly fishers group
The Olympic Fly Fishers has its first fall meeting 6 p.m. Sept. 10, at the Mountlake Terrace Community Senior Center, 23000 Lakeview Drive.
Keith Roe of the North 40 Fly Shop in Omak will speak about fishing around that area in Okanogan County. After, the club will discuss business, share some fishing stories and pull raffle tickets.
Admission is free, and dinner can be purchased for $20. Guests are welcome.
