Work on Highway 9 again delayed
The state Department of Transportation has postponed Highway 9 work scheduled for this weekend because of weather.
Two weekend closures are needed to add a roundabout east of Marysville.
WSDOT is still planning to close the roadway, from Highway 531 to 84th Street NE, Sept. 20-23. Closures will start 9 p.m. Friday and end 5 a.m. Monday.
A second weekend has yet to be scheduled.

Art in the Park
Art and free music will fill Legion Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in downtown Arlington.
The family event will showcase crafts by local artists and art projects for kids and adults. It’s been presented by Arlington Arts Council for 15 years.
There will be raffle prizes. Awards for the Trees of the Valley photo contest will be announced at noon Saturday.

Symposium about gang activity planned
Mayor Cassie Franklin and the Everett Police Department will host a second-annual symposium on gang activity, youth crime and gun violence from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Explorer Middle School, 9600 Sharon Drive.
Gang-related crime was one of the first issues Franklin aimed to tackle when she assumed office.
The event is free and open to the public.
Glass pumpkins and pint glasses
It’s all pumpkins all the time at Schack-Toberfest at the Schack Art Center.
Check schack.org/make-it-now to see if there are still slots for pumpkin-themed glassblowing classes each weekend through Oct. 26, at 2921 Hoyt Ave. in Everett.
The cost is $95 for non-members. All supplies are provided. Age 8 or older.
For those older than 21, the art center will host glassblowing demonstrations by artist Jesse Kelly from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19. The event includes live music by The Porters, a silent art auction and a raffle with the prize of making your own large glass pumpkin during the event.
Entry costs $25 for non-members. Ticket includes a drink ticket, a food ticket and a souvenir Schack pint glass.
Tax workshop
The Washington State Department of Revenue is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sept. 19, at the Mukilteo library, 4675 Harbor Point Blvd.
Participants will learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements.
Attendees receive a workbook and helpful reference guide to Revenue’s rules and regulations. Also, attendees may earn two continuing professional education (CPE) credits.
