MONROE — A 20-year-old Carnation woman died in a crash last Wednesday night south of Monroe, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Her name was Sophie E. Theriault. The cause of her death was blunt-force injuries, the medical examiner’s office found.
Around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Rimrock and High Rock roads, spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said in an email.
A 34-year-old Monroe man was driving a BMW sedan northwest on High Rock when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
The woman was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. They were the only two people involved, O’Keefe said.
This is an active investigation, but detectives believe speed was a factor.
