HILLSBORO, Ore. — Dominic Canzone and Blaze Alexander each hit a home run and Hillsboro Hops pitchers held the Everett AquaSox to just four hits in a 4-1 season-opening win Tuesday night.

AquaSox starter Matt Brash struck out six in three innings, but allowed three earned runs on five hits. Tim Elliott struck out eight and allowed only one run on one hit in 3.2 strong innings in relief for Everett.

Austin Shenton doubled for Everett’s only extra-base hit in the game and prized Seattle Mariners prospect Julio Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts for the AquaSox.

The game was Everett’s (0-1) first as a member of the High-A West League and the first of a six-game opening series against Hillsboro (1-0).
