Gomez’s grand slam lifts AquaSox past 1st-place Spokane

SPOKANE — Dariel Gomez broke a tie game with a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning and the Everett AquaSox beat the first-place Spokane Indians, 10-5, Sunday at Avista Stadium.
Noelvi Marte hit a two-run double in the fourth and the AquaSox (19-24) jumped out to an early lead with a three-run second.
Victor Labrada had an RBI double and Myles Miller and Tyler Keenan each added RBI singles. Labrada finished with three hits and Marte and Keenan each had two.
Everett’s Mike Mokma (2-1) struck out two over two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
Zac Veen hit a two-run home run and Robby Martin Jr. and Colin Simpson added solo homers for the Indians (24-19).
Spokane’s Anderson Bido (0-2) took the loss after allowing two runs without recording an out.
