LYNNWOOD — Over a dozen people were displaced early Tuesday morning after a suspected arson at an apartment building in Lynnwood.
Reports of the fire in the 19300 block of 46th Avenue West came in just after midnight, South County Fire spokesperson Leslie Hynes said. The fire appeared to start with a car in a carport, which then spread to surrounding apartments.
When firefighters arrived, flames were spreading up the side of the building and into an attic, Hynes said. Eleven adults and four children were displaced. The local chapter of the Red Cross was helping them.
There were no injuries, according to South County Fire. Eight units were damaged.
After reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses, authorities determined the fire was “most likely arson,” according to Lynnwood police.
The investigation remained active Tuesday.
