Semi uncouples on U.S. 2 near Monroe, blocking traffic for hours

MONROE — A state Department of Corrections semi truck uncoupled and rolled over on U.S. 2 west of Monroe, blocking traffic for hours Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 18-wheeler was headed west when the box separated from the truck around 11:50 a.m. between Fryelands Boulevard and Roosevelt Road, trooper Kelsey Harding said. The driver was entrapped and the severity of injuries was unknown.

There were no other reports of injuries.

Meanwhile, traffic on the highway was diverted for hours.

Eastbound drivers were able to get through at Roosevelt, according to the state Department of Transportation. Westbound lanes at Fryelands remained stalled until about 3:30 p.m.
