The Snohomish County PUD is celebrating 75 years of serving electricity to our customers. Since our start as a publicly owned utility in 1949, the communities we serve have been at the heart of everything that we do.

We are spending our 75th year reflecting on our history with monthly updates that look back at our growth over the years. What started as a small undertaking that took over an electrical system from Puget Sound Power & Light Company has grown into an operation that serves power to more than 875,000 residents of Snohomish County and Camano Island.

To mark our major milestone, we are doing something for you, our customer-owners: Every month through September, PUD customers can visit our Anniversary Celebration webpage at www.snopud.com/75 and enter monthly drawings for a $75 bill credit. Entries reset on the first of each month, so be sure to enter every month throughout the contest. Additionally, anyone who enters over the course of the contest will be entered in the October grand prize drawing for a $750 bill credit.

As a public power utility, it’s always been important to give back to our communities and find ways to engage with our customer-owners. Seventy-five years later, that effort continues. Actively helping our communities thrive is one of our top priorities in our most-recent strategic plan. We will continue to find innovative ways to help our customers.

Last year, we demonstrated our appreciation with our inaugural Energy Block Party. We were blown away by the response, with thousands of visitors stopping by our headquarters to learn more about the PUD, get information on how to save on their energy bills and even apply to become part of Team PUD.

There was more than just information, however. Kids were able to check out giant PUD line trucks, the PUD Generation team’s snowcat, fire trucks and other first-responder vehicles from partner agencies. In addition, we had children’s activities, free giveaways, food trucks, an electric vehicle car show and more.

Well, we’ve got some good news. The Energy Block Party returns on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everything from last year is back, and more, including a pair of classes from the PUD and industry experts on whether solar power and new energy technology is right for you, and how to make your home more energy efficient. We will also have more trucks, information and giveaways than last year as we try to express our gratitude for all of our customers.

We can’t wait to welcome everybody back to our headquarters in downtown Everett. Though you are always welcome to stop by and pay us a visit at our headquarters or our community offices in Monroe, Arlington and Lynnwood.
