EVERETT — Applications are open for low-income seniors to receive one free $80 benefit card to purchase fruits and vegetables from Snohomish County farmers markets, farm stores and farm stands, a press release said.

The Senior Farmer Market Nutrition Program is available on a first-come, first-served basis up to available funding to non-Native American Snohomish County residents age 60 and older, and Native Americans 55 and older by June 30. For income eligibility information or to apply online, visit snohomishcountywa.gov/1036.

The county will only consider applications received by 4 p.m. on May 7.

The program helped over 3,000 low-income seniors in 2025, Human Services Department administration Supervisor Cole Caplan said in the release. It is a “vital resource for low-income older adults, and also expands the use of local farmers markets, farm stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.”

The program has existed for more than 20 years and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Washington State Department of Health’s Office of Nutrition Services and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services’ Aging and Long-Term Support Administration.

The county will mail the benefit cards by June 15 and recipients must use the funds by Oct. 31.
