Red Curtain: Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts, a nonprofit arts education organization, plans to open a new arts center in Marysville on Oct. 1, also the date of a fundraising event. See “I’m Herbert and Other Short Plays,” directed by Molly Brusewitz, at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, Aug. 19-28. Tickets range from $12 to $19. The production involves three stories about love at different ages: the newlyweds in “Here We Are” by Dorothy Parker, the elderly couple in “I’m Herbert” by Robert Anderson and two women in love with the same man in “Overtones” by Alice Gerstenberg. Tickets for the Phoenix 2016-17 season also are available now. The coming shows include “Moon Over Buffalo” and “Crossing Delancey.”
Anderlin Arts: Performances are at the Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 2320 California, Everett; www.anderlinarts.org. “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” the musical comedy, plays Sept. 15-24.
“Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”: The off-Broadway comedy is a one-man fusion of theater and stand-up comedy based on the best selling book by John Gray. See it at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Call 425-258-6766 for ticket information.
