Wonderful artwork reflects community

We would like to offer our 2 cents worth regarding the mural controversy in Edmonds. When we saw the mural by Pat Brier we were amazed. It is a wonderful montage telling a story about Edmonds that everyone can relate to and appreciate. We are looking forward to more murals to brighten up the many bland areas of our town.
Edmonds is known as an artist community. What a wonderful, innovative way to attract attention to our local artists. Flowers and murals; the tourists will love it. Perhaps in their search for murals visitors will discover “new” shops they haven’t been in before. We feel that this approach is superior in turning around the city’s financial problems than increasing property and business taxes. Towns like Chemaines, B.C., and Toppenish, Wash., have made the mural idea work for them. Chemaines’ over 40 murals have literally saved the town from financial ruin. Toppenish has over 65 murals displaying its history. My wife and I each give two thumbs up to murals in Edmonds.
