Taste retirement today

Mill Creek Senior Center hosts “A Taste of Retirement” today.

Sample Hawaiian cuisine for free from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Creek Presbyterian Church, 621 164th St. SE in Mill Creek.

The senior center is located at 15720 Main St. in Mill Creek.

Buy a virtual blanket: September is Preparedness Month, and Fred Meyer stores and American Red Cross volunteers will participate in a “Buy a VIRTUAL Blanket” campaign to raise money for emergencies and disasters.

On Saturdays throughout the campaign, Red Cross volunteers will be at Fred Meyer stores in Bothell, Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe and Snohomish to greet customers, and distribute disaster preparedness checklists and donation cards, which can be scanned at checkouts. The campaign runs from Sept. 11 to Oct. 2.

Reunion for Little Red School House: Families who are or who have been a part of Little Red School House can reconnect at the agency’s first family reunion, noon Sept. 11 at Mariner High School’s gymnasium and commons, 200 120th St. SW in Everett.

The free event will include pizza and refreshments, activities and opportunities to share stories.

The organization assists families with children ages birth to 3 who have developmental disabilities, developmental delays or are at risk of falling behind their peers.
