Fair workshop tonight
Learn how to enter baked goods at the Evergreen State Fair.
A workshop begins at 7 tonight at the fairgrounds display hall, 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe.
A second seminar is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds.
There is no fee, no prior registration, and parking is free, right next to the building.

Festival with a twist: If you visit Gold Dust Days in Gold Bar this weekend, you can go “Racing for the Cure.”
A $2 donation gets you a three-minute race on a remote-controlled race car track. All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure program.

Roads closed for Aquafest: Several Lake Stevens roads are scheduled to be closed for the Aquafest celebration from Friday through Sunday.
They are Main Street from the entrance to Jay’s Market to 16th Street NE; 18th Street NE from Main Street to 127th Avenue NE, and 125th Avenue NE from the True Value Hardware driveway to 18th Street NE.
A lane closure (one-way traffic only) is planned for N. Lake Shore Drive from Mitchell Road to 123rd Avenue NE. People who live on these streets may obtain passes from the police department.
Temporary road closures also are planned from 5:50 to 6:30 p.m. Friday from Hartford Drive along Main Street and again from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday for the children’s and grand parades.
