No more school? Check.
Enthusiasm for the adventures found in books? Check.
Sno-Isle library branches again will ensure that with the end of school, kids and teens can still find entertainment and enlightenment, through the annual summer reading program.
Program start dates depend on school districts’ end dates, and most library branches will hold “finishers’ parties” to wrap up the program by late August.
Children may fill out reading logs, but are not required to do so.
The teen program requires weekly book reviews, some of which will be posted online. Many branches will offer drawings for T-shirts and other prizes. The grand prize is a mini notebook computer.
Adults who want to participate will be asked to submit reviews that may be posted online; their choices may be added to an online booklist.
Kick-off events include Eric Ode concerts at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St., and noon Sunday at the Mill Creek Library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway; an introduction to Teen Summer Reading plus a ramen-eating contest, 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Monroe branch, 1070 Village Way; and Magical Adventures of Aquifer Man, 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stanwood branch, 9701 271st St. NW.
To print out a reading log or to get more details, go to www.sno-isle.org and look under “Special Features” on the home page. All library branches’ phone numbers are listed on the site. Reading logs also may be obtained in person at each branch.
