Snohomish exhibit celebrates the season

“Colors of Spring” is in full bloom at the Arts of Snohomish Gallery, where the diverse backgrounds and homelands of Tatyana Deynega and Sakae Ouchi are showcased in their art.

Ouchi, who is from Fukushima, Japan, arrived in Everett in 1974. His subjects include Pacific Northwest favorites such as Mount Rainer, the Snohomish River, old barns and tulip fields.

Deynega, from Yekaterinburg, Russia, was a physics engineer and took art classes at night.

A reception to meet all the featured artists of “Colors of April” is planned for 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Arts of Snohomish Gallery, 105 Cedar Ave., Snohomish. The show will be on display through May 1.

More than 50 original works of glass art, sculpture and painting will be featured in “The Art Auction for the Artist” on April 17 at Matzke Fine Art Gallery and Sculpture Park.

Visitors can preview the artwork from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the gallery, 2345 Blanche Way, Camano Island. Go to www.matzkefineart.com for directions and to download a map.

“The Art Auction for the Artist” will begin at 6 p.m. April 17. A $10 registration fee will be collected at the door on auction night. Desserts, wine and nonalcoholic beverages will be served.

Artists participating in the auction include Karla Matzke, Jack Gunter, Betty Frost, Debbi Rhodes, Liana Bennett, Kevin Pettelle, Alfred Currier, R. Allen Jensen, Merrilee Moore, John Ebner, Edward Schmid, Hiroshi Yamano, Reg Akright, Susan Cohen Thompson and Marc Boutte.

Lyla Lillis from Earth, Woman and Fire Pottery is the featured artist for April at Deception Pass Art Gallery, 40751 Highway 20, Oak Harbor.

Visitors to the gallery will find pottery, jewelry, souvenirs and drums made with clay from the cliffs of Whidbey Island.
