AeroMexico talks up its Boeing 787s

AeroMexico has ordered a total of five Boeing Co. 787s, the airline said Wednesday.

Mexico’s largest transcontinental airline, which had two 787-8s on order since August 2006, said it expects to receive its first 787 within the next two years.

AeroMexico said it will use its Boeing 787 planes on long distance flights.

The airline’s order comes after the maiden flight of Boeing’s 787 on Dec. 15. Boeing has begun its flight test program for its 787-8 and plans to deliver the first Dreamliner late this year to launch customer All Nippon Airways of Japan.

UPDATE: The other three 787s for AeroMexico that aren’t mentioned above were on order for the airline with a leasing company.
