Everyone in the fold

It looks as though the Tips will have a full roster for Friday’s season opener in Kent. Right wing Kellan Tochkin and goaltender Thomas Heemskerk were back at practice today following their NHL camp invites, while center Byron Froese, left wing Tyler Maxwell and defenseman Radko Gudas are all expected back tomorrow. Also, new right wing Brett Miller was scheduled to arrive in town tonight — by the way, the conditional draft pick the Tips gave up to get Miller was a seventh rounder.

With defenseman Rasmus Rissanen having been cleared to play going full speed in practice, coach Craig Hartsburg has just about a full complement of players to select from Friday. The only player who’s unavailable is left wing Dan Iwanski, who suffered a knee injury during Everett’s first preseason game. Iwanski’s knee injury isn’t though to be that serious, but he’s not available this weekend.

The fallout of Heemskerk’s return is that Luke Siemens is headed out. He’ll be playing for Quesnel in the BCHL this season, but he probably showed enough during his brief time in Everett to be in the picture next season, particularly with Heemskerk opening some eyes and putting himself in contention to play professionally next season as a 20-year-old.
