Local golfers compete in senior tourney

Everett golfers Bob Burton and Kirk Smith opened with 2-over-par 74s on Tuesday and are part of a four-way tie for eighth place after the first round of the 45th-annual Pacific Northwest Senior Men’s Amateur Championship at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore.

Chris Maletis of Portland, Ore., the 2007 champion, holds a four-stroke lead after carding a 5-under 67. Maletis’ round was highlighted by an eagle 3 at the par-5 ninth hole, which was his final hole of the day.

Jeff Remington of Edmonds was in a four-way tie for 12th place after a 3-over 75.

The three-round tournament continues today.
