TACOMA — Roger O’Neill scored 18 points to lead Meadowdale to a 47-41 win over Enumclaw on Thursday in the boys Class 3A state quarterfinals.

Meadowdale moves on to play Franklin in the semifinals. In order to advance, the Mavericks had to beat a tough Hornets’ team that rallied from a seven-point, fourth-quarter deficit to tie the score with less than 5 minutes remaining. But Meadowdale’s Khalid Surur sealed the win by hitting four consecutive free throws down the stretch.

Offense was hard to come by as both teams struggled to shoot the ball in the first half. Meadowdale heated up in the second, hitting 9-of-17 shots. Forward Connor Hamlett added 17 points for the Mavericks, one night after he pumped in a career-high 26 in a win over North Kitsap.

Taylor Myers led the Hornets with 14 points, including 11 of his team’s 18 in the first half. Riley Carel added 11 for the Hornets.
