Published 10:55 pm Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Go native: If you lost trees in the recent storms, now is the time to think about replacing them to control erosion and fill in bare spots.

Mark your calendar for the Snohomish Conservation District’s annual plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 6 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.

Native trees, shrubs and groundcovers, priced at about $1 each, are sold as small plugs or in 4-inch pots.

Many of the plants can be used to create windscreens, perimeter fences or hedgerows. See a brochure with plant descriptions and best uses at www.snohomishcd.org/plant-sale.

Only cash and checks will be accepted.

Call 425-335-5634, ext. 4, for more information.
