EVERETT — Police said they are investigating an assault and theft early Friday that left a woman battered and bruised.
Detectives believe the woman, 37, was dragged a short distance by a pickup truck along an alley before dawn near the 1600 block of McDougall Avenue, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital, he said.
She told police she had been engaging in sex with a man in the back seat of the truck. She was trying to get into the front seat when he drove off, Goetz said.
The man left with the woman’s backpack and purse, police said. The woman’s belongings later were found a few blocks away near the intersection of 15th Street and Lombard Avenue, Goetz said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Everett Police tip line at 425-257-8540.
