Monroe wins in extra innings

Monroe pitcher Jordan Birch threw a two-hitter and struck out 17 batters and the Bearcats erupted for four runs in the eighth inning to take a 4-0 win over Everett in a clash of the top two softball teams in the Wesco North. Monroe’s victory broke a tie atop the division standings.
