PULLMAN — Washington State University says senior defensive end Matt Mullennix has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.

The university says the NCAA approved Mullennix’s medical appeal and granted another year of eligibility earlier this week.

Mullennix missed the entire 2006 season after suffering a knee injury, and had his 2004 season end prematurely after four games with a knee injury.

In his abbreviated Cougars career, the 24-year-old from Spangle played in 15 games, recording 19 tackles, including three sacks and four tackles-for-loss.

Mullennix, who earned bachelors degrees in both management and operations and psychology, and will pursue another degree in the fall.
