Bothell weighs rate increase for water
The issue of whether to increase water rates to make up for rising costs from the city of Seattle is expected to be discussed Tuesday by the Bothell City Council.
The council will discuss the rates in a study session scheduled for 6 p.m. at Bothell Municipal Court, 10116 NE 183rd St.
The city is considering a 3 percent increase in water rates because Seattle increased its wholesale prices on water. Bothell buys its water from Seattle.
Gift shop prowls for a cat mascot
A gift shop on the Edmonds waterfront is holding a contest to elect a cat mascot for the coming season.
Cat owners have until the end of the month to submit a 4- by 6-inch picture of their feline and its resume at Faces of the NW, 300 Admiral Way, Suite 104.
People can come back to the store in December to cast votes for their favorite cats. Gift baskets are expected to be awarded to the winners.
The shop plans to donate $5 to the ÂLynnwood-based Progressive Animal Welfare Society for each of the first 30 entries.
The gift shop recently held a mascot contest for dogs, but the rules didn’t specifically prohibit other animals from entering. A young girl in Seattle entered her pet hamster in the contest. This time around, only cats are eligible.
