Biotech and screen stars

Here’s your somewhat obscure local biotech fact for the day:

Jack Faris, a resident of south Snohomish County, is the president of the Washington Biotechnology &Biomedical Assocation, which is the state’s biggest trade and lobbying group for biotech companies.

That’s because his daughter is 29-year-old actress Anna Faris, who has made her money being in rather silly comedies such as “Scary Movie 4,” but also has been in some lauded dramas, including “Brokeback Mountain.”
