AMTEC open house: Everett Community College celebrates National Manufacturing Day with public tours of its Advanced Manufacturing Training and Education Center, 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 7. The center, which opened in 2014, recently expanded, adding eight classrooms and a mechatronics lab. AMTEC is located on EvCC’s north Everett campus at 909 N Broadway.

Rachel’s Challenge: A parent community event tied to a Rachel’s Challenge event is set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Forest View Elementary School, 5601 156th St. SE, Everett. Haunted Nightmare: Haunted Nightmare at the Nile, a volunteer-driven nonprofit event benefiting the Nile Shriners, runs weekend nights Oct. 7 through Oct. 30 at the Nile Shrine Golf Center, 6601 244th St. SW, Mountlake Terrace. Sausage Fest: The Bavarian-themed Everett Sausage Festival runs Oct. 7-9 at Perpetual Help Church grounds at Everett Avenue and Cedar Street. Farm Fest: The Sky Valley Farm Festival invites everybody to “get their mud on” while spending the day enjoying the sights, smells and sounds on the ranch, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct 8. Park at the Western Heritage Center, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe, and then get ferried from farm to farm along Fern Bluff Road in an antique tractor wagon. Everett Massacre Centennial: The Everett Public Library hosts several events over the next month to mark 100 years since a labor strife erupted into a gunfight, killing at least seven people on the Everett waterfront on Nov. 5, 1916. On Oct. 15, an introduction to the series starts at 1 p.m. followed by an overview of 1916 Everett at 1:30 p.m. and a comparison of massacre-related coverage in local mainstream and radical press at 2:30 p.m. More info: epls.org.
