MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville’s website is getting a makeover starting July 20.
The changes are intended to improve functionality and make the website nicer-looking.
“It’s just better,” said Bronlea Mishler, the city’s community and media relations officer. She estimates it’s been at least five years since the city did a redesign of its website.
Most significant, the redesign will allow the website to be fully functional on any platform.
“It’s designed to be completely mobile-compatible,” Mishler said.
For the redesign, Marysville used CivicPlus, a Manhattan, Kansas-based company that specializes in building government websites, including those of Everett and Snohomish County.
The project cost $12,440.
CivicPlus also is Marysville’s current site host, Mishler said, and will continue to host and provide technical support for the redesigned site.
Users of the site will still be able to accomplish the same tasks they did before, whether it’s signing up for community events, paying bills or finding government documents, Mishler said.
But it will be both easier to navigate and maintain, she said.
Social media services like Facebook or Twitter will be more tightly integrated into the site as well, and Google Translate will provide translation of the pages into any language.
“Once people get used to the new design, they are going to find it a lot easier to use and more responsive,” Mishler said.
The change is scheduled to happen mid-day Monday. The web address will remain the same: http://marysvillewa.gov.
