Front Porch: Monroe School Board to set budget

The Monroe School Board has scheduled a public hearing for the 2015-16 budget at 6 p.m. Aug. 17. The regular board meeting will begin after the hearing.
The board is expected to adopt the district budget at a meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 31.
The meetings are to take place the administration office, 200 E Fremont St. A draft copy of the budget will be available for review at the administration office and on the district website by Friday.For more information or to request special accommodation, call 360-804-2501.
Eat pancakes at Aquafest: Lake Stevens firefighters plan a pancake breakfast during Aquafest.
The breakfasts will be served from 6 a.m. to noon July 25 and 25 at the downtown fire station, 12409 21st Street NE.

Learn about Poplar Way bridge: An open house on Lynnwood’s proposed Poplar Way bridge project is set for July 28. Public comment is encouraged. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W.
The project would build a bridge over I-5 linking Poplar Way and 33rd Avenue W. It is still in the design phase.
