Lynne K. Varner is joining the leadership team at Washington State University North Puget Sound at Everett as an associate vice chancellor. Varner has been with WSU since 2014 leading in marketing and communications. Prior to that, she was an award-winning journalist who worked for the Seattle Times, the Washington Post and United Press International.

Work Force Development to celebrate its 25th anniversary

The Work Force Development Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 3 at 11400 Airport Road., Suite 100, Everett. Founded in 1991, Work Force Development Center is a nonprofit vocational training organization that prepares at-risk and disadvantaged high school juniors and seniors with work experience in the assembly/manufacturing/machining fields. Register for classes at Country Living Expo

The Country Living Expo and Cattlemen’s Winterschool is scheduled for Jan. 28 at Stanwood High School. Edible wild plants, home orchard pruning, beekeeping and pole building construction are just some of the 180 classes, 52 of them new, that will be offered.
