MUKILTEO — A woman was taken into custody Monday evening after a SWAT team was called to a Mukilteo home.
Officers were called to the home shortly after 2:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a disoriented woman walking in the area. The woman was spotted in the doorway of a home, according to a press release.
“When they attempted to contact her she retreated inside the location, producing a handgun and pointed it at one of the responding officers,” police said. “She then barricaded herself in the upstairs portion of the residence.”
After multiple attempts to make contact with the woman, officers with the Region 1 SWAT Team were called to the scene. The woman eventually surrendered.
The Kirkland woman, 37, was expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault Monday night.
Police Chief Cheol Kang said the quick thinking and restraint of officers was life saving: “I appreciate the skillful efforts of our law enforcement partners which resulted in a safe resolution to this incident.”
Responding to the call were Mukilteo police and firefighters, Region 1 SWAT Team as well as Lynnwood, Monroe, Edmonds Marysville, Mill Creek police and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
