EVERETT — Police on Thursday said they arrested a man they allege is responsible for a fatal shooting along W. Casino Road early this week.

Detectives developed probable cause to arrest the man, 33, for investigation of first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. The man, who has no fixed address, was expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Thursday evening, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.

He’s suspected of fatally shooting Carlos H. Lara-Ramos, 28, on Tuesday. Lara-Ramos, of Everett, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Arterra Apartments at 711 W. Casino Road. Witnesses reported seeing the shooter run from the scene.

The violence apparently stemmed form a dispute over both men having dated he same woman, Snell said. The suspect allegedly obtained a handgun and confronted the victim outside an apartment.

Neither men lived at that complex. The handgun was recovered. Police do not believe the shooting is gang related or connected to other violence in the neighborhood.
