Host: Japanese students on their way

Every summer the Edmonds Sister City Commission coordinates a two-week exchange of middle school and high school students between Edmonds and Hekinan, Japan.

Students stay with families in their host city. Host families provide a room, some meals and transportation for their student. Hosting a student provides a glimpse into another culture and the opportunity to share your own.

The commission seeks families willing to host Japanese students for their stay in Edmonds from Aug. 6-19. The commission plans most of the daytime, and some evening, activities for the students.

Explore: Digital Archive hits milestone

The Washington State Digital Archives, which opened in 2004, is the nation’s first archives dedicated specifically to preserving electronic records from state and local government agencies that have legal, fiscal or historical value.

The Digital Archives recently logged its 150,000,000th record. The milestone document was an appointment of successor, a type of land record, that was filed in King County earlier this year.

Besides holding millions of records, the Digital Archives possesses many interesting and classic photo collections from yesteryear. It also has a wide variety of other collections to peruse, as well as genealogy resources.
